Q. Why a wedding website?
A. It’s a convenient + paper-free way to share news of our upcoming wedding. There is quite a bit of information to share as most of our guests are out-of-towners.
Q. How will we get to + from the venue on the wedding day?
A. We have organised a bus to pick you up and drop you back to your accommodation. Pick up points will be from our recommended accommodations: Breakfree Aanuka Resort and Smugglers on the Beach. More information with regards to times etc, can be found under the UPDATES tab.
Q. Can we arrange babysitters?
A. Absolutely! We can provide the name of a reputable babysitter for the wedding day for those of you who are making the event a family affair. Mid North Coast Babysitting Service (Ph: 0410531311).
Q. What will the weather be like in September?
A. September is the beginning of Spring and in Coffs Harbour it has on average the lowest rain out of any month. Temperatures are between 20-24 degrees during the day and get down to about 15-17 degrees during the evening.
Q. Can I take photographs and put them on Facebook/Instagram?
A. No. We have decided to have an unplugged wedding – so we discourage devices at our wedding. We have hired professionals to take photos and record our day; all we ask is that you are with us… remain present rather than relating to the world through a small screen. We would rather you simply watch, clap, smile + cry… and really listen, communicate and remember not from photos you upload on FB or instagram, but from your own memories.
Q. What happens if it rains?
A. The wedding + party will continue to take place at Marlowe House. There is a function room downstairs and the verandahs of the old Queenslander offer cover from the elements.
Q. Why Coffs Harbour?
A. She is from Mackay, central Queensland. He is from Melbourne, Victoria. Coffs is about the half-way meeting point for our families and friends.
Not only that, we had to find a venue that ticked all the right boxes.
Bernie grew up on the beach. Many of her childhood memories stem from holidays taking place in Seaforth, about an hours drive north of Mackay. The family beach house was often the place hosting celebrations for the Jansen clan – early morning walks on the beach looking for prized shells with her grandparents, fishing trips, oystering around the rocks, swimming in the stinger enclosure and making sand castles. That house has always had a special place in her heart. You could literally walk out the back door, across the lawn and be standing on the sand within 30 seconds. Absolute beachfront bliss. It was magical. It was the kind of place where she had always envisioned she would get married one day. In a big house, close to the sea.
After the house was sold many years ago, Bernie was unsure anywhere would have the magic required.
Marlowe House is just the place.
